In early June, we had a dozen Swampers spend a glorious week in Bend, Oregon. This was Swamp’s third trip to Bend, as the combination of primo weather, fantastic trails and a super fun community makes for an unbeatable biking destination.
We lodge at the Mill Inn, a historic boarding house (in town) nestled within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The Mill Inn offers up the finest breakfast in a true Bed & Breakfast fashion, and we’ve been known to pack an on-trail lunch from leftovers. After a day of singletrack, Bend has a fun urban ride called the Ale Trail that can hit up to thirty Micro-brews. It would seem there is an endless offering of things to do.
We rent bikes from Pine Mountain Sports. The owner and staff are highly customer service oriented, and their rental fleet is top notch. You can rent a truck, SUV or van at the Redmond airport, grab a bike and be on the trails in an hour. Bend is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream come true. You should go there.
